Wes Galyean, of Claremore, Oklahoma, and Reyboomsmall were the first to capture a title at this year’s Breeder’s Invitational (BI), held May 9-23 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Rising to the top of the 32 experienced horses competing in the finals, the duo marked a 225 to take the Classic/Challenge Open Championship.

 

After scoring a 221.5 and 219 in the go-rounds, Galyeanand the mare’s winning run earned a paycheck worth $23,191, adding to the 5-year-old mare’s current Equi-Stat record of $48,713. Reyboomsmall (Dual Rey x Kaboomsmall x Peptoboonsmal) is owned by breeder Kim Ezell, of Perrin, Texas.

 

Galyean, who recently surpassed the $3 million mark in Equi-Stat, is the only rider to record earnings in Equi-Stat aboard Reyboomsmall, who placed fifth in last year’s BI Derby Open to earn $17,560.
