ZR One Takes Kristen Galyean All The Way

This year’s National Cutting Horse Association (NCHA) Super Stakes has been a successful one for Kristen Galyean. The Claremore, Okla., non-pro followed up a first- and second-place finish in the Gelding Non-Pro with a Super Stakes Non-Pro Championship.

Galyean made the Non-Pro finals, held Saturday, April 18, in Fort Worth, Texas’ Will Rogers Memorial Complex, on two horses. She drew up sixth in the two-bunch, 22-horse class with ZR One. The 4-year-old Peptoboonsmal gelding, bred by Jack Waggoner and Susan Ferguson, carried his owner to a 223. That score held through the rest of the finals to win.

Im Reydioactive (Dual Rey x Kaboomsmal x Peptoboonsmal), bred by Kim Ezell, won the Gelding Non-Pro two days earlier, and tied for sixteenth in the overall Non-Pro.

ZR One earned $20,401 for his Championship, along with a $4,003 check as the Gelding Non-Pro Reserve Champion. Im Reydioactive’s event earnings totaled $15,467. Altogether, Galyean garnered nearly $40,000 at the Super Stakes this year in the 4-year-old classes alone.
